INSTALLS PAUL J. CARNIOL, MD, AS 2020-2021 PRESIDENT

Washington, DC, - (October 20, 2020) — The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) announces that Paul J. Carniol, MD, founder of Carniol Plastic Surgery in Summit, NJ, has been installed as President of the organization.

With a stellar background and robust dedication to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Carniol (who was elected in November 2019 to the position of President-elect) formally took office as AAFPRS President on October 17, 2020 and will serve the 2020-2021 term year. Celebrated for his approach to patient safety and reproducible outcomes that improve quality of life, he has performed thousands of procedures and has extensive experience in facial trauma and reconstructive surgery; his new technology, laser, neurotoxin, and filler work is industry leading.

The AAFPRS is the world’s largest specialty association for facial plastic surgery. The organization seeks to educate medical professionals, government and the general public about facial plastic surgery as a specialty that requires intensive training and competence, embodies high ethical standards, artistic ideals, commitment to humanitarian service and a desire to enhance the quality of human life. Members have more comprehensive training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery than any other medical specialty.

Dr. Carniol is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology. He has been an active member of the AAFPRS for nearly 30 years and a Clinical Professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School.

As AAFPRS President, Dr. Carniol will closely collaborate with other "core specialties" in the cosmetic surgery field, continue development of AAFPRS’ outstanding educational programs, including online programs, partner with industry on research efforts, and explore avenues to add value to the loyal members of the AAFPRS.

In addition to running a thriving and award winning cosmetic and facial plastic surgery practice in Summit, New Jersey, Dr. Carniol lectures at medical meetings across the United States and internationally on subjects related to the latest devices and procedures in facial plastic surgery. Repeatedly selected as a Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. Top Physician as well as a Top Plastic Surgeon in the United States by the Center for Consumer Services in Washington D.C., Dr. Carniol has served in various AAFPRS leadership positions including Treasurer and Group Vice President for Membership & Society Relations, past President of the Medical Society of New Jersey, past President of the New Jersey Chapter of American College of Surgeons, and past President of the Board of Medical Examiners for New Jersey, to name a few.
