The Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS Foundation) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

The AAFPRS Foundation designates this live activity for a maximum of 29.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Physicians should claim only the credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in this activity.  Physicians also have the option to receive MOC credits towards your ABOHNS certification requirements when completing the CME evaluation.

Target Audience
This activity is designed to meet the clinical and professional education needs of practicing physicians, residents, advanced practice providers, and front office staff, who work in the fields of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Aesthetic Medicine, Dermatology, Oculoplastic Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, and Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, as well as for healthcare professionals involved in surgical and non-surgical treatments used to restore, enhance and rejuvenate the face. It is intended for physicians and other health care professionals who are interested in translating expanded knowledge into practice for the improvement of patient care and outcomes. The clinical and scientific program is developed for physicians at all experience levels and covers aesthetic, reconstructive and congenital issues related to this specialty.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to effectively: 
  • Discuss the principles and fundamentals of rhinoplasty, recognize how these principles impact patient care, and explain the appropriate surgical approach for achieving desired outcomes.
     
  • Determine when it is most appropriate to apply preservation rhinoplasty or structural rhinoplasty techniques.

  • Summarize methods for managing complications and reduce variability of care based upon agreed upon best practices.

  • Improve facial trauma and facial reconstruction outcomes by utilizing the latest surgical tools and techniques.

  • Recognize the pros and cons of using surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures and safely apply these techniques to different patients and clinical situations.

  • Summarize the benefits and advantages of using deep plane facelift and/or preservation facelift and neck lift techniques for surgical rejuvenation.

  • Recognize the role of gender in facial attractiveness and the integral role that gender-affirming surgery plays in alleviating gender dysphoria.

  • Determine the best techniques and steps to use when performing facial gender affirmation procedures.

  • Contemplate new research developments in the field of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and determine how they can be implemented into practice.

  • Summarize the benefits of using ultrasound, lasers, and other energy-based devices during cosmetic procedures, as well as potential risks for using these devices on patients with diverse skin types. 

  • Identify and evaluate the similarities and differences between various dermal fillers and identify the right product for the right patient condition.

  • Implement safe and effective injectable techniques to minimize complications, ensure patient satisfaction and achieve optimal results.

  • Translate expanded knowledge into practice for the improvement of patient safety, outcomes and satisfaction.

  • Consider incorporating new business, marketing, and social media strategies into your practice. Identify ways that AI can benefit your practice.
